200 Mound Builders Skeletons Uncovered in a Pit in Rural Illinois

Reported in the Pantagraph (Bloomington, Ill.)  April, 13, 1975 was a discovery of an Indian burial pit in a remote area of Washburn, Ill.  The pit contained over 200 burials. Dr. John McGregor of the University of Illinois claimed they were ancient and were those of the mound builders. Archaeologists did not remove the skeletons that were eventually covered up, where they remain today.
